Hi everyone, Doug here—founder and designer behind the Hollow Wheel Performance. I wanted V3 to stick to the road like glue, so I optimized the contact patch and fine-tuned the urethane formula. The result is some of the highest cornering grip you’ll find on a street wheel. Because of the light weight and new urethane formula, I’m very happy with the performance.
After studying V2 through extensive skid pad testing and finite element analysis (FEA), I made major changes in V3 that redefine grip and control. Here’s how:
Internal Structure Change

V2: Reliable hollow core design but lacked optimal load distribution across the contact patch and as such grip could be better.

V3: Redesigned internal structure to improve load distribution, ensuring consistent contact with the road. It maintains low weight while delivering higher performance, outperforming traditional solid wheels or competitors.
New Material Selection

V2: A solid material choice (Rubber) but struggled with maintaining consistent road contact on harsh terrain

V3: Introduced a material with higher flexural modulus and a lower durometer, allowing the wheel to flex and conform to road imperfections. This ensures the wheel grips the road better, even on uneven surfaces.
Fine-Tuning Negative Camber

V2: degrees of negative camber, which provided decent stability but compromised road contact. Originally 3.5.

V3: Reduced negative camber to 0.5 degrees, improving the wheel's ability to maintain full contact with the road.
